York Hospitium Wedding Photography
There are some weddings that just have that magic – and Ali and Sean’s day at The York Hospitium had it in abundance.
As a York wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to weddings that are full of real, unscripted moments – and this one was the perfect blend of elegance, fun, and relaxed vibes. My documentary photography style is all about capturing genuine emotion, and Ali and Sean’s wedding was an absolute joy from start to finish.
Getting Ready at The Grand Hotel, York
The day began at the stunning Grand Hotel in York, where both the bride and groom got ready surrounded by their closest family and friends. There was so much laughter and anticipation in the air – from the morning prep to the final touches.
One of the highlights for me was walking through the historic streets of York with Sean and his groomsmen. As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, it’s moments like this that really stand out – suited-up lads strolling past ancient stone walls, all the excitement of the day ahead in full swing, with well-wishers smiling and cheering them on.
A Perfect Ceremony at The York Hospitium
The Hospitium, set in the beautiful Museum Gardens by the River Ouse, is one of York’s most atmospheric venues. With its medieval stonework and peaceful garden setting, and it has always been one of my favourite venues over the years.
And yes – in true York style – we even had ice cream by the river. It was one of those simple, joyful moments that sums up the whole feel of the day. As we walked along the River Ouse we had tourists and even boats going by cheering them on!
As the day rolled into the evening, the speeches brought both tears and belly laughs, and the dance floor absolutely delivered. As a wedding photographer you can always get a sense whether it’s going to be a relaxed night, or the guests are going to let their hair down and dance. Thankfully for me everyone was on the dance floor!
To Ali and Sean – thank you for having me along for the ride. Your wedding was a dream to photograph, and I feel lucky to have been the one to capture it. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness, ice cream breaks, and adventure.
Photographers – I usually get asked what equipment I used for each wedding. For Ali & Seans wedding I used 2 x Sony A7iv cameras, a Sony A9 as well as a Sony A7Cii. Lenses used were Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM and Sony Fe 85mm F1.8. It was only until the reception did I use my 24-70mm f2.8.
