KAYLEIGH & MATT’S SKIPBRIDGE COUNTRY WEDDING IN YORK

What a day, what a wedding!

We were really honoured to capture the wedding of Kayleigh and Matt recently, held at the stunning Skipbridge Country Weddings venue in York.

We love when a wedding reflects the couple, and this one certainly did; the venue was a whip-smart choice. Unpretentious, but earthy, elegant and fun. We thought this fit Kaleigh and Matt to a “t”!

Our day started at around 11am for some getting ready photos with the bride and groom to be. We first met up with Kayleigh, her mum and bridesmaids at one of the beautiful little cottages in Skipbridge Country Weddings. Everyone was relaxed and excited, a perfect start for the day ahead.

OUTDOOR COUNTRY WEDDING

Before too long it was time for the ceremony. True to this couple’s unique style, Milo the blue roan Cocker spaniel was the ring bearer, sporting a rather dapper suit and hat! It was clear how dearly Milo is loved, and why he played such a big part during the proceedings. He definitely stole our hearts. The weddings guests all sat on hay bails, very fitting as this couple love the outdoors.

After the ceremony it was on to the confetti. This crowd had serious confetti game! No direction needed from us, so we just snapped away happily. The weather began to get unpredictable, so everyone headed inside the tipis to tables labelled according to countries. A sign showed guests where to sit, with the heading “Where in the world am I sitting?” Cute!

The speeches were full of hilarious jabs and anecdotes. It was clear this family will rib each other for days, but more apparent was the love that underscored it all. We sensed this was a very tightly-bound group.

After the first dance, the night fizzled into a party. Even though we were the wedding photographers, we felt we were a part of it- always a major bonus when work is fun! It was no effort capturing lively images in this fun-loving group.

SHOUTOUTS

A couple of shoutouts are in order. Firstly to Skipbridge Country Weddings, which is arguably our favourite venue, and we dearly hope to return someday. The staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for the guests. And Dave the llama is about as rockstar as you could get! Here’s a link to their website: www.skipbridgecountryweddings.co.uk

The wonderful makeup was by Kate Howard, who had the patience of a saint with us photographers hanging around! Here’s her website: www.khmakeupartistry.com

The brilliant Matthew Stephens (wedding singer) entertained the weddings guests all day and into the night. Wonderful voice and provided first class entertainment. Check him out at: www.facebook.com/MatthewStephensAcoustic/

During the reception we thought to ourselves “The music sounds amazing” – only to realise that there was a saxophonist right there on the dance floor! Sarah Potts kept this party current and jumpin’. We were so impressed! Check her out at: www.sarahsaxplayer.co.uk

Kayleigh and Matt are two of the loveliest people we’ve met, and we are so honoured to have documented their day. As photographers we dream about these weddings, so we feel truly blessed in many ways.

Thanks so much for choosing us Kayleigh and Matt, and all the very best for the future.
