We are often asked “What do you shoot with?” by some of our clients, so here’s what can be found inside our camera bag.
Cameras
We switched from Canon to Sony mirrorless back in 2016 and haven’t looked back. Now we shoot with the Sony A7Riii and two Sony A7iii cameras. The Sony A7iii in particular, in our opinion, is the best all round wedding photography camera around. Incredible autofocus, eye tracking, ISO noise handling is amazing, and the batteries last right through a full day wedding. Our previous Canon 5dSR is our backup camera should anything (heaven forbid) go wrong with our equipment.
Batteries
It’s always best to make sure you have extra batteries, we have eight in total, which in hindsight was a little overkill considering how long the batteries last in our Sony cameras. But for peace of mind we know that we are covered.
SD Cards
We use professional and high-speed SD Cards, with two in each camera. Each camera is capturing the image in both RAW and JPEG so that we have a backup.
Lenses
Sony lenses are expensive! After switching to Sony this was probably the biggest drawback, if you want anything like the quality of a GMaster lens you are looking at close to £2k. Here’s our list of lenses so far:
- Sony FE 24-70mm f2.8 GM
- Sony FE 35mm f1.4 Zeiss Distagon
- Sony FE 55mm f1.8
- Sony FE 85mm f1.8
- Sony FE 70-200mm f2.8 GM
- Sony FE 90mm f2.8 Macro
Lighting
We primarily use Godox lighting, and we have 4 x Godox v860ii plus the Godox Ad600, along with several video and ice lights.
