DEER SHED FESTIVAL 2024 & LEEDS CITY OF SANCTUARY EVENT
Nestled in the middle of a really busy wedding season for myself, I was asked to photograph a wonderful event held by the City of Sanctuary. They were invited to attend by the Deer Shed festival organisers. As an event photographer I wouldn’t want to miss this event or festival.
Leeds City of Sanctuary is a proud participant in a national initiative dedicated to fostering a culture of welcome for those seeking refuge in the UK. In Leeds, they warmly embrace individuals who arrive in search of safety. Their commitment is to transform the city into a sanctuary for anyone in need of protection.
I had the chance to speak to some of these remarkable people, learning about the journey they had been on, and the struggles they faced. It really was eye opening for me. As well as being informative and highlighting the problems that refugees face, they also put together fun activities that visitors could get involved with. Such as clay making, poetry and music!
Deer Shed Festival
The Deer Shed Festival 2024 is an eagerly anticipated annual event held in the town of Driffield. Known for its eclectic mix of music, arts, and family-friendly activities, Deer Shed has carved out a unique niche in the UK’s festival scene. The 2024 edition proved to be no exception, delivering a rich and diverse experience for attendees of all ages.
A Diverse Musical Lineup
At the heart of the Deer Shed Festival is its impressive musical lineup. Each year, the festival features a wide range of artists spanning multiple genres, ensuring there is something for every musical taste. From big-name headliners to emerging talents, the festival’s stages come alive with performances that captivate and inspire. Past festivals have seen performances from renowned artists such as Florence + The Machine, Foals, and George Ezra, alongside rising stars like Holly Humberstone and Arlo Parks.
I had the chance to listen to The Tubs, and I am a fan now! Great music, great energy and really interacted with the crowds. It was also great to see the guys from Back Chat Brass who I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few times at weddings.
