HULL & YORKSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Hello, welcome to O’Hara Photography, we are Bren & Hollie O’Hara an award winning Yorkshire wedding photographer and event photographer. We believe that the best wedding photos aren’t the force posed, but the natural and real moments captured in time. I am a UK & Yorkshire wedding photographer, specialising in a documentary approach to wedding photography. Since 2009 we’ve photographed well over 200 weddings and events.
Documentary Wedding Photography
I don’t limit myself to a specific type of photography. I love what I do, and are always keen to provide my clients with their preferred style of photos. That said, if I was to claim a “specialty style”, I’d say it was documentary- candid and natural. Some call it documentary wedding photography, reportage wedding photography or even wedding photojournalism. It all means the same thing… you will barely notice I am there.
My main aim with any wedding is to document the day, and all those timeless moments of joy. I can of course help with the more traditional posing. But if posing isn’t your jam then thats fine with me.
Event Photographer
Most consider me as a Hull wedding photographer, but I also offer event photography. I’ve worked as an event photographer for UKTV, York Racecourse, the University of York & Hull, as well as Go Run for Fun, Circus Starr, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust. I can cover everything from parties, festivals, university balls and club nights.
I cater to all budgets – so you won’t need to break the bank! My versatile pricing means I can cover both short and full days. I approach every wedding or event the same way. My style has a photojournalistic approach, rather than having everyone pose all day at a wedding or event, I aim to capture the true narrative.

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER & APPROACH
I am mostly known as a Hull and York wedding photographer, but I also photograph events such as parties, charities and even sport. For events or weddings I have the same documentary style approach. At your wedding I like to mix in with the guests, almost ninja-like, to the point that you forget I have a camera. By mixing in with the guests it means I can capture unique moments. My primary aim is to make everyone feel comfortable. By achieving this means I will capture more authentic, candid and natural wedding photography. This even applies to any portraits, groups or formals. If wedding guests comment that I am friendly, approachable and unobtrusive then I did my job!
The very first wedding we photographed was back in 2009. Since then I’ve worked as a Hull, Yorkshire or York wedding photographer full time, and my style has been consistent. You can read more about my approach here.

“We got married on the 30.10 and we was lucky enough to have Bren with us to capture every moment of the day from 11am – 7.30pm. The photos are everything that we hoped they would be and so much more, we asked for natural photos and not staged and they are perfect. All of our guests commented on how lovely Bren is and how it felt so good not to have the pressure of staged photos, 99% of the time you wouldn’t have even known your picture was being taken! Thank you so much for all of your hard work on the day! I could not recommend O’Hara photography anymore to you if you are looking to have the perfect photographer for your wedding day who are an absolute delight to be around” – Lauren Scrivener
“We were fortunate enough to have had Bren as our photographer for our wedding and we are so glad we did. The service, response and overall experience we had was exceptional. On what was a nervous day he made us feel at ease, listened to us and blended into the crowd which led to some wonderful photos. His photos are an exceptional standard. He doesn’t over edit the images and they looked terrific. Anybody considering a wedding photographer should look no further. He genuinely has given us images that mean the world to me and my wife.” – Matthew & Louise Fawcett
“I honestly wish I could give Bren more than 5 stars! We were originally meant to get married August 2020 but because of COVID we had to postpone 3 times and finally got married last month. Bren has been absolutely amazing during this time, changing our dates, keeping in touch and just making sure we were ok. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to try help make sure our day was perfect. As for the wedding, the photographs we got back made me cry, they were absolutely fantastic and I’m blown away with how many he managed to capture on the day! I have so many guests comment on how great they are and how they didn’t even realise he was there when taking them (sign of a great photographer!)” – Louise Larkin
HULL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Hopefully when browsing through our website you will understand my style, and get a feel for my passion for wedding photography and photography in general such as events, charities and sports.
Wedding photography really has gone to a new level in recent years, with new high-tech equipment, cameras and creativity. When I set out to be a Hull wedding photographer or Yorkshire wedding photographer I knew exactly the style of photography I wanted, and that was to document a wedding practically from the start to finish. Your wedding day isn’t supposed to be a photo shoot, so there will be no forced-posed photos with me, unless asked to do so. My Yorkshire wedding photography has taken me to places such as Hull, York, Beverley, Scarborough, North Yorkshire Dales and further afield.
YORK WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
I always strive in my work to provide something special for all of my couples. Capturing the little details or a split second moment that can be looked back upon in the future. For me, nothing beats capturing the emotion and fun of the day.
I always prefer to meet up with my clients before the big day. I don’t mind traveling to you. I’ve traveled all over Hull, Yorkshire as a York wedding photographer. Or I sometimes meet with clients in a little coffee shop here in my hometown of Hornsea…tea or coffee is on me! If meeting in person isn’t really an option, we can communicate via email, text, phone call or even Facebook. Please view my frequently asked questions page if you’re still unsure.
